Students and teachers can experience the music of the world through an outreach series sponsored by the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza and Music Center Education Division.

The first in the International Passport Series for schools, “Echoes of Africa,” will take place Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. It will trace the roots of America’s popular music and dance to African folk songs.

Other performances include “Latin American Journey” on Dec. 7, “From the Mesas and the Tundra” on Feb. 7, and “The Jewel of India” on April 16. Performances will be $5 each and will take place at the Probst Center at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
