OXNARD : Boy, 17, Arrested in Shooting of Woman
Police said a 17-year-old Oxnard boy was in juvenile hall Saturday on suspicion of shooting an Oxnard woman in the leg at a Perkins Road apartment.
Police took the boy into custody Friday night in connection with the attack on Gwendolyn Thompson, 33, who was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center and released.
Police said they received a call about 8 p.m. reporting Thompson had been shot at an apartment in the 5400 block of Perkins Road. Paramedics spotted the suspect fleeing the scene and alerted authorities, police said. A police officer apprehended the suspect after a brief foot chase.
Police said the gunman fired seven bullets into the door of Thompson’s apartment. Police on Saturday had not determined a motive for the shooting.
