COLLEGE FOOTBALL : Oregon State Gives Arizona a Battle, 14-9
Dan White threw two touchdown passes and Arizona stopped three Oregon State scoring threats in the fourth quarter to hand the Beavers their eighth consecutive loss, 14-9, Saturday night.
Arizona, 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the Pacific 10, was held to a season-low 156 yards.
Oregon State (1-8, 0-6), aided by a late-hit penalty, drove to the Arizona 27 early in the fourth quarter but was stopped short on fourth down. The Beavers got the ball right back on an interception, but Rahim Muhammad, who relieved starting quarterback Don Shanklin late in the third quarter, was stopped inside the one with eight minutes to play.
