Woodland Hills : Riordan, Others to Speak on Economy

Mayor Richard Riordan will deliver a “State of the Valley Address” on Nov. 17 at the 46th annual meeting of the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn.

Also speaking at the Woodland Hills event will be state Controller Kathleen Connell, who will discuss California’s economic future, and Los Angeles Times business columnist Tom Petruno, who will speak about the region’s economy.

The program will include the association’s seventh annual Business Forecast Conference, which will feature a series of seminars and discussion groups on the local economy, profiles of successful area business people and a review of the success of Los Angeles’ entertainment and telecommunications industries.

Cost of the all-day conference is $95, which includes breakfast and lunch, or $60 for the luncheon only. Connell will speak at breakfast; Riordan and Petruno will talk at the luncheon.

The association, a nonprofit business organization founded in 1949, is composed of 425 Valley-area corporate members and affiliates. Collectively, its members employ more than 250,000 people in the Valley and surrounding communities, organization officials said.
