Pacoima : Health Fair Serves Asian Community

The Japanese American Community Center in Pacoima will sponsor the fourth annual Asian and Pacific Family Health and Cultural Day on Saturday.
The health fair will feature free medical screenings for cholesterol, diabetes, tuberculosis, breast cancer and other diseases in which early detection is critical. In addition, representatives of 30 community health organizations will answer questions about health and mental health issues.
Visitors will be able to use translators who are proficient in Korean, Chinese, Thai, Tagalog, Japanese, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Samoan and Spanish.
Cultural performances, activities for young children and free refreshments will be provided. The Asian & Pacific Islander Council of the San Fernando Valley will provide free transportation to the fair. For locations of pickup sites, call (818) 786-2884.
The event, sponsored by Blue Cross of California, Kaiser Permanente and other organizations, is open to the public. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 12953 Branford St.
