Oxnard police asked Monday for the public’s help in finding eyewitnesses who can identify the person who shot a 19-year-old Oxnard man in a drive-by shooting Oct. 23.

Police had arrested the alleged driver but not the passenger suspected of pulling the trigger in the attack on Jose Ramiro Pardo. Pardo has been released from St. John’s Regional Medical Center and is recovering at home, said Oxnard Detective Bernie Schmalhofer.

Michael DeLeon, 19, of Oxnard was arrested Oct. 24 and charged with aiding in the commission of the crime, Schmalhofer said. DeLeon is in Ventura County Jail, awaiting a preliminary hearing, the detective said.

At 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, Pardo was standing outside his Channel Islands Boulevard residence when he and a friend were confronted by a car allegedly driven by DeLeon. Pardo was shot in the upper torso by one of the car’s occupants, Schmalhofer said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Schmalhofer at 385-7649.
