Families Sue Over Plane Crash Deaths

The families of two Simi Valley teen-agers killed in an April airplane crash have filed suit against the estate of the pilot and his wife, who both also died in the accident.

The mother of Venessa Gonzalez and the father of Brandon Miller filed the suit Friday in Ventura County Superior Court. The suit alleges that Donald Muchmore, 52, was negligently piloting his Cessna aircraft when it slammed into an Arizona mountain in bad weather.

Muchmore was a retired Ventura County sheriff’s deputy. More than 600 mourners turned out for the four-casket funeral in May. Muchmore and his wife, Peggy Lou, were buried alongside Miller, 18, and Gonzalez, 17, in the Simi Valley Cemetery.

Miller was the son of Peggy Lou Muchmore, 47, by another marriage, and Gonzalez was his girlfriend.

The four were returning from a trip to Arkansas, where the Muchmores were building a retirement home and where Miller was planning to attend college.

The suit was filed on behalf of Yvonne Robledo and Robert R. Miller and seeks unspecified damages from the Muchmore estate.
