THOUSAND OAKS : Hairstylists to Collect Food, Toys for Needy

Share

Hoping to provide food and clothing to the needy in time for the holidays, workers at Jamie’s Hair Design in Thousand Oaks are holding a charity drive Saturday.

The workers are requesting donations of canned food, toys and clothing for battered women and children. Donations will benefit Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank and Interface Children Family Services of Ventura County.

Organizer Susan Main, a hairdresser at Jamie’s Hair Design, said the event stemmed from her customers’ conversations at the salon. “For the past year, we have been dwelling on battered women,” Main said. “We wanted to give people a chance to do something positive for them.”
