LA CONCHITA : Free Workshop on Composting Planned

Ventura County residents in La Conchita are invited to a free workshop on back-yard composting Nov. 18.

The workshop, at the Seaside Banana Farm in La Conchita, is designed to teach the basics of starting and maintaining a compost pile, odor control and using worms and the resulting mulch in landscaping.

Also, the first 30 residents from any of the county’s unincorporated coastal areas who register for the class will receive a free composting bin.

The Ventura County Solid Waste Management Department, which is sponsoring the event, recommends that those planning to attend bring lawn chairs or blankets. Refreshments will be provided.
