LEGAL MOVES: After eight years at the county’s legal hub in Santa Ana, the Orange County Bar Assn. is moving to Irvine. Leaders say it’s nothing against the county seat--the 6,300-member group simply outgrew its offices near the main courthouse. The Public Law Center, which gives legal aid to the poor, takes the old space. . . . The bar group won’t be far from lawyers though. The court district with the most members includes Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and Irvine.

BACK-YARD BUCKS: It’s not rare to pay a few hundred dollars for your children’s playhouse. How about $27,000? That’s what an ornate playhouse fetched last year at the charity auction for HomeAid, to help the homeless. More than 800 bidders are expected when eight special playhouses go on the block today at the Hard Rock Cafe in Newport Beach. There’ll be a gingerbread house, lifeguard station, country cottage, riverboat and more. Bids may start at four figures.

VETERAN SALUTE: The elite Army Rangers of South Vietnam were often first into battle. An Orange County-based group of ex-Rangers will join their American Ranger counterparts at Arlington National Cemetery Sunday for a Veterans Day salute to both groups. For the Vietnamese Ranger Assn. of Southern California, the tree planting and plaque dedication is an important tribute. The president, Hung Nguyen, 50, was wounded in 1968. . . . “I’m a lucky one,” Nguyen said. “It was a dangerous business.”

LOTS OF ‘TOMORROW’: Be ready for a taste of Broadway at the Brea Mall today. The Broadway Kids, four boys and four girls who have performed on the New York stage, will do a couple of shows. And if you like them, they’ll have copies of their latest CD too. . . . The group has toured, singing tunes performed by kids in such hits as “Annie” and “Oliver!” Says their manager, “It’s a good way for parents to introduce Broadway to their children.”
