It appears that Dennis Rodman is as good at making medical diagnoses as he is at choosing hair colors and grabbing rebounds.

Before being examined by any doctors or undergoing any tests, Rodman said the injury he suffered in Tuesday’s game was a pulled calf muscle and predicted that he’d be out a month.

The Chicago Bulls chose to list Rodman day-by-day until Friday, when they said tests confirmed that the four-time NBA rebounding champion pulled his left calf muscle and will be sidelined “up to four weeks.”

“The only good news I have is Dennis said, ‘I think I can take this month and maybe make it two weeks,’ ” Bull Coach Phil Jackson said.

Because of the slight chance that Rodman could return before he would sit out the five games required of players put on injured reserve, Rodman will remain on the active roster.

Dickey Simpkins will start at Rodman’s power forward spot.
