Reward Offered for Information in Tustin Pellet-Gun Shootings

A $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of pranksters who fired a small-caliber pellet gun at trick-or-treaters in four separate incidents on Halloween night, police said.

Lt. Frank Semelsberger said in a news release Sunday night that the reward was offered by parents of a child who was fired upon. In all, 12 Tustin residents, from 1 1/2 to 32 years old, were shot at by a person--or people--armed with a pellet gun.

Semelsberger said he hopes the reward will lead to a breakthrough in the department’s investigation. Police believe the suspects drove a 1990 or later blue or green Ford Explorer.

“There were up to five people in the suspects’ vehicle,” Semelsberger said. “Some of the passengers may be totally innocent of any wrongdoing. However, without coming forward and discussing with us their role . . . we are assuming they may be full participants and are subject to prosecution when we eventually find them.”

Anyone with information is asked to call investigator Todd Bullock at (714) 573-3251.
