Some cash-starved clinics in Los Angeles will be getting a financial shot in the arm today as the Blue Cross Community Clinics Fund presents $2.4 million in grants to pay for childhood immunizations and other health care services for the poor.

Representatives of the California Community Foundation, which oversees the fund, are scheduled to give out checks--ranging from $75,000 to $150,000--at the Venice Health Center. Twenty-one health care center officials from Los Angeles County will be on hand to receive the money.

The California Community Foundation expects the money will finance immunizations for 22,500 children and medical treatment for 50,000 low-income county residents.
