Westside : FRIENDS’ CONCERNS

Share

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s plan to reconfigure Santa Monica and Little Santa Monica boulevards to create a multiple-lane transportation corridor through Westwood is to top the agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Friends of Westwood.

The organization meets once a year to discuss planning and land-use issues in the Westwood area, said President Laura Lake. New items of concern include a proposal to build a McDonald’s restaurant at Santa Monica and Westwood boulevards.

The group will also discuss noise and pollution problems created by planes flying into the Santa Monica Airport and the possibility that the National Football League and UCLA will build a stadium on the property of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Los Angeles. The 7 p.m. meeting will be held at Westwood’s Fairburn Elementary School.
