Culver City police Officer Randy Vickerygot a pat on the back and a Police Service Award last month from the International Assn. of Chiefs of Police.
Vickery was honored for saving the life of his partner during a March shootout in a parking garage. The two officers had entered the garage, tailing a suspicious vehicle.
When the driver and his passengers got out of their car, they shot Officer Ron IIzuka--Vickery’s partner--twice in the leg. Despite the gunfire, Vickery ran to IIzuka and pulled him out of the structure. The suspects were later apprehended.
