U.S. figure skating champion and Olympic hopeful Michelle Kwan demonstrated her prowess Friday as the Disneyland Hotel dedicated an outdoor ice-skating rink that will be open through the holiday season.

The 15-year-old athlete from Torrance performed to music from the Disney animated feature “Pocahontas” and later gave impromptu skating lessons and stuffed animals to a group of pediatric outpatients being treated at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles.

Kwan, who recently took first place in the Skate America and Skate Canada competitions, said she often receives stuffed animals from her fans and donates them to hospitals.
