Cal Lutheran University has been awarded $1.5 million to establish the Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair in Developmental Biology. The Fletcher Jones Foundation donated the money to recognize the college’s strong biology department.

The Fletcher Jones professor will teach evolution and developmental biology and other advanced courses as well as coordinate the senior research program.

The percentage of students majoring in biology at Cal Lutheran has increased by 49% over the past decade. That percentage is expected to increase with the new emphasis on health-care management in the school’s MBA program.
