Westlake Village : New Council Members to Take Office Dec. 6

Share

Newly elected Westlake Village City Council members Betty DeSantis and James Henderson will be sworn into office Dec. 6 during the council’s annual reorganization.

Outgoing Mayor Kenneth Rufener and Councilwoman Berniece Bennett will get an official send-off during the event. Both announced earlier this year that they would not seek reelection.

Mayor Pro Tem Bennett would normally have been next in line for the top job under the city’s rotation system, officials said. But because she chose not to run again, Councilman James Emmons is next in line. The entire council will vote on the matter during the reorganization.

Henderson, a political novice, is a veteran community activist and DeSantis is a former member of the Las Virgenes Unified School District Board of Education.

The ceremony will be at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall council chambers, 4373 Park Terrace Drive in Westlake Village. A reception will follow in the community room.
