The man accused of leading authorities on a 60-mile, high-speed chase through Ventura and Los Angeles counties is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest.
Mark Humphreys, 41, of Ventura, is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at the Ventura County Jail.
Humphreys surrendered Monday evening after leading police from Oak View to Hollywood in his 1972 Oldsmobile sedan, authorities said.
The pursuit began at about 4:10 p.m. when, police said, Humphreys refused to stop for a sheriff’s patrol car on California 33 and continued through Ventura and down the Ventura Freeway into Hollywood. The assault with a deadly weapon charge stems from an incident during the hourlong chase when Humphreys’ car hit the back of a Jaguar parked at the corner of Thompson Boulevard and Seaward Avenue in Ventura.
The driver and her 8-month-old son did not require medical care.
Patrol cars from the California Highway Patrol and a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department helicopter aided in the chase.
