Attention parents, grandparents--or friends thereof. There is a little treasure of a book out there that can help you save big. “Funderful Coupons for Kids and Their Families” contains thousands of dollars worth of discounts on products, services and activities.

Three editions are available. One focuses on the San Fernando Valley, the other two cover “The City” and Orange County. All of them are organized with the same basic categories: retail, services, parties, education, food and family fun. The coupons offer from 10% to 50% off.

Some major companies are included in all three editions. They have special offers for children, such as the half-price fares (with certain restrictions) on USAir and healthy discounts on several cruise lines. Some of these might be available at certain travel agents or in specific advertisements, but here they are all put together in a neat package.

For clothing in the Valley, there’s a long list. Rebelette (20%), For Kids Only (10%), Jacadi (15%), Brooks Shoes for Kids (20%), M. Frederic (20%), Rag Tatoo (15%) and Encino Kid Boutique (20%) are among the more than 100 popular stores represented. One coupon at any of the clothing stores, for instance, covers the cost of the book.

A 10% discount can add up to even bigger savings at furniture stores such as Bergstroms, Joseph Wahl, Babyland, Sun Kids and Fun Furniture. At Bedfellows, enjoy 20% off.

There are big discounts on toys, books, sporting goods and crafts at some of the most popular stores in the Valley. There’s also 20% off purchases made from The Right Start catalogue.

If you’re doing a kid’s party, figure $25 off of any entertainment booking at Entertainment for All, Happy Parties, Kiddie Antics or Giraffe & Staff. Even the Los Angeles Zoo gives a 10% discount on their “wild birthday parties.”

With the “Funderful” coupons, the birthday girl received free services at some of the places that host glamour parties for little girls. Little Women dresses the girls for a Victorian tea party; at Allen Edwards Kids, coiffures, manicures and a touch of makeup will make them queens for the day.

The education section covers gyms, camps and computer schools. And lessons in karate, swimming and dancing get sizable discounts.

There are lots of two-fers at restaurants in the food section at spots such as Dive, Nicola’s Kitchen, Bow Wow, Jacopo’s, Michael J.’s, Cafe Bellissimo and Luna Rossa.

Under Family Fun, major entertainment sources such as AMC Theatres, Pacific Theatres, General Cinema and Knott’s Berry Farm add to the value of this “Funderful” book.

All offers are valid through Oct. 31, 1996. The price of the book is $25 and is used as a fund-raiser by more than 400 organizations including schools, charities, sports teams and religious institutions. Volume discounts are available.
