Claims by Uninsured

Re “Blasting at a Gnat,” editorial, Nov. 14: Blast away!

Preventing felons, drunk drivers and in particular, uninsured motorists from collecting pain and suffering awards is deserving of a ballot initiative, as the trial lawyers have a strong interest in lobbying against the measure in the Legislature.

Without uninsured motorists bringing scores of “injury” claims as a result of minor fender-benders, personal injury lawyers would see a precipitous drop in business. Ever watch daytime TV commercials?

I work in insurance claims. Believe me, the “hit me, I need the money” mentality is thriving with the majority of those bringing such “injury” claims being uninsured. It is costing all of us in liability premiums. If you don’t pay, you shouldn’t be able to play!
