2 Arrested in Protest at Newspaper Plant

Two demonstrators were arrested outside a Detroit Newspapers printing plant where the holiday ad-laden Thanksgiving edition was printed.

One man was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly throwing a snowball at a delivery truck. The second was accused of violating an injunction limiting the number of pickets in the plant’s main driveway, police said.

There were no reports Thursday of demonstrations at other plants of Detroit Newspapers, the agency that oversees business operations of the Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press. Six unions representing about 2,500 workers walked off their jobs July 13. The papers have continued to print, using replacement workers, managers and employees who returned to work.
