South Bay : Lomita Wins Round Against Restaurant
The city of Lomita has won a temporary injunction to stop construction of a Claim Jumper restaurant at the Crossroads shopping center in Torrance.
In the latest development concerning the tale of two cities and a restaurant, a Superior Court judge sided with Lomita, saying that Torrance failed to study how the business would affect the area. Lomita officials are concerned that the restaurant will further clog up traffic and damage their streets. Lomita owns the section of Crenshaw Boulevard where the Crossroads shopping center is located, while the land on which the eatery would sit is in Torrance.
The legal battle continues next week when the two cities meet.
