Warner-Lambert Fined $10 Million: Warner-Lambert Co. pleaded guilty to criminal fraud for not telling federal authorities about problems with the chemical stability of its epilepsy drug Dilantin, said an announcement by Lynne A. Battaglia, U.S. attorney for Maryland. Although the problem didn’t pose a health risk for patients, the company was required under federal law to report it to the FDA. The government also charged that Warner-Lambert had similar problems with Parsidol, an anti-Parkinson’s drug, and two thyroid medications--Euthroid and Proloid. The company no longer makes the three drugs, but it continues to make Dilantin under a special agreement with the FDA.
