Improv Teams to Compete Saturday

Ventura Area Theatresports will celebrate its sixth anniversary by going up against their neighbors from Theatresports’ Los Angeles chapter in an improvisation competition Saturday.
The teams of four improvisers will compete by performing improvised scenes in several categories, such as romance or flashback. Three judges will award points for technical expertise, narrative and entertainment value.
The audience is invited to an anniversary celebration after the show, artistic director Tom Mueller said.
“I am tickled to death,” he said. “I’ve done a lot of theater . . . but nothing is as fulfilling as this.”
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Performance Studio, 34 N. Palm St., Ventura.
