A four-acre lot in the heart of Westwood Village could become the site of a $100-million retail and entertainment complex that backers say would revitalize the struggling retail area.
Developer Ira Smedra purchased the site late last month from Nansay U.S.A. for an undisclosed price.
Tentative plans calls for a 350,000-square-foot development of movie theaters, shops and a supermarket at Glendon and Weyburn avenues, according to Darrell Levonian, vice president and general manager of Sands Commercial, who represented the buyer and the seller. The site is now a parking lot near Bullock’s.
Westwood, once a thriving retail and restaurant district, has been suffering economically for the last few years.
