Community clinics throughout Los Angeles will share a $2.4-million grant arranged by the California Community Foundation.

The Chinatown Service Center, Oscar A. Romero Clinic in East Los Angeles and South-Central Family Health Center are among the 21 clinics that have received the money, said Judy Speigel, vice president of programs.

The grant was provided by the Blue Cross Community Clinics Fund to help ease the burden on clinics that are now deluged in the wake of the Los Angeles County health care crisis, Speigel said.

The grant money will go toward providing immunizations for 22,600 children and general health care to about 50,000 people countywide, Speigel said.
