The collaboration between head Butthole Surfer Gibby Haynes, blues-rocker Bill Carter and musicians-turned-actors Johnny Depp and Sal Jenco is a surreal blend of rough-hewn rock, Gothic Western twang and psychedelic dub. Highlights include a wonderfully warped rendering of ABBA’s “Dancing Queen,” a Tasmanian Devil-ish grind called “White Man Sings the Blues” and a spacey, nine-minute dub sprawl, “Jon Glenn (Mega Mix),” that never drags. A-one.
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor) to four stars (excellent).
