INSIDE & OUT : Chic Seat
The Zoe washlet electric toilet seat will have you sitting in the lap of luxury.
With the touch of a button on the remote control--yes, remote control--a spray nozzle shoots a stream of warm water to cleanse the body. The nozzle functions much like a bidet, except it doesn’t need as much space. The stream of water can be adjusted to several levels.
A catalyzed disk fan clears the air without the need for fresheners. This feature is activated by sitting on the seat, which was created by industrial designer Ayse Birsel for Toto of Japan, which has an office in Orange.
The seat itself, with ergonomic contours, has rubber cushions underneath for a softer impact. An optional heating feature ensures warmth on chilly mornings.
The seat ($600), which runs on household current, fits most standard round and elongated toilets. And the seat and lid snap off for easy cleaning.

Whole Horse
Horse lovers can gear up their homes with furnishings and accessories from the Back in the Saddle catalogue.
Among some of the catalogue’s unique items are horse-themed 100% cotton bedding and rawhide lamps by artist Carolyn Lewin.
Lewin shapes each shade by hand, so no two are identical. She stamps on the images of running horses through a process using sepia dyes. Plain shades are available too.
The iron base has a brown patina for a soft yet rustic look.
The lamp comes in a table model ($395, 27 inches tall) and a floor model ($495, 61 inches).

Silver and Glow
A little light goes a long way, especially the silver-plated candleholder with hinged cover offered through the Chambers catalogue.
The cover, which snuffs out the tea-light candle after use, also serves as a mirror for maximum sparkle.
The candle holder ($24) is 3 3/4 inches in diameter and 5 1/4 inches tall when the cover is open.
