* James Klein has been named president of Applause Inc., a Woodland Hills-based plush-toy company. Klein replaces Melvin Gagerman, who left the company.
Klein and Gagerman did not return phone calls about the executive change.
Gagerman engineered Applause’s recent purchase of Dakin Inc., a rival toy company. Applause had planned to go public early next year after the Dakin deal. The combined companies were said to have annual revenues of about $175 million.
* Dick Clark Productions Inc. has named Marya Doonan as director of client services in the New York office of its corporate production subsidiary.
Doonan is a former director of new business development for Imero Fiorentino Associates, a communications and design company.
Dick Clark is a television production company. Its corporate production unit provides communications, marketing, film and video services for corporations.
* Guy Barone has been selected executive vice president of Tricor, a Somis consulting firm that specializes in marketing, strategic planning and new product development. He was formerly in commercial insurance.
Bill Millard has been appointed Tricor’s vice president for organizational development.
