ORANGE COUNTY ALMANAC : Anaheim by the Lake?
In the 1960s, Anaheim officials debated how to redevelop the then-declining downtown area.
One proposal--never carried out--was to transform the central district into a European-themed shopping village celebrating the city’s German-American heritage. Another was to create a lake downtown that would be surrounded by shops.
