Clinton in Europe

I was dismayed to read news of President Clinton’s historic and magnificently successful trip to Ireland relegated to inside your Dec. 2 front section (“Clinton Both Stern, Sentimental in Irish Visit”).

Does not the success of our president in foreign affairs and his popularity in Europe as a peacemaker equal and even exceed news coverage on the front page such as “Southern Mystery: A Pool of Blood, a Missing Heiress,” or “Burbank Firm Has Dream for King Center” (Valley edition)? Does not his success even rate billing on page A2 with “Chaos Reigns as Bangladeshi Leading Ladies Feud”?

Why is it so hard to recognize and validate President Clinton’s leadership, strength and popularity?
