Share

Concealed-weapons permits will be the topic tonight at an east county National Rifle Assn. Members Council meeting in Thousand Oaks.

Ventura County Sheriff Larry Carpenter will speak at the meeting at 7 p.m. at Sunset Hills Country Club, 4155 E. Erbes Road.

The state Assembly recently passed a bill modeled after a Florida law that would loosen the rules for concealed-weapons permits.

Tim Lee, a spokesman for the local NRA, said members will get a chance to ask Carpenter about the existing law and proposed changes.

The east county NRA council has about 100 members. There are about 50 member councils throughout California. The groups were set up to get NRA members involved in local politics, as well as to conduct training and safety classes.
