Central Los Angeles : Renovated, Expanded Library Reopens

A renovated and expanded Angeles Mesa Branch library opened its doors to Crenshaw district residents Friday.
The historic building, which was closed in 1992 because it did not meet earthquake standards, was dedicated as a library in 1928, said Susan Goldberg Kent, the city librarian.
The $1.2 million renovation was made possible by the passage of Proposition 1, the 1989 library bond issue, and a federal housing and community development block grant, she said.
