Obituaries : * Charles “Red” E. Frankenberg; Ventura Resident and WWII Veteran

Charles “Red” E. Frankenberg, a 10-year Ventura County resident and World War II veteran, died Friday after a long illness. He was 74.

Frankenberg was born Oct. 16, 1921, in Cincinnati, and served with the Marines during the war.

For 25 years, Frankenberg worked as a quality inspector for several companies, including Lockheed Aircraft.

Following his retirement in 1979, Frankenberg and his wife, Mary, moved to Ventura County to be closer to family members. The Ventura resident was a member of the city’s Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, son and daughter-in-law Chuck and Susan Frankenberg of Ventura; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Don Conatser of Woodward, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Manu Frankenberg of Alexandria, Va.; daughter and son-in-law Mary and Bob Camage of Crosby, Minn.; daughter and son-in-law Paulette and George Williams of Salem, Ore.; son Andy Frankenberg of Ventura; son and daughter-in-law John and MerrybethFrankenberg of Ventura, and sister Edna Lowry of Winter Garden, Fla. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura. The funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, with burial following at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.

Arrangements are being handled by the Ted Mayr Funeral Home of Ventura.
