Obituaries : Carl J. Niebuhr; Longtime Ojai Resident
Carl J. Niebuhr, a longtime Ojai resident and avid gardener, has died at the age of 74.
Niebuhr, who moved to Ojai in 1959, died at his home Friday after a brief illness, said his wife, Geneva.
Niebuhr retired in 1985 from McCullough oil field service, where he worked for years as a wire line operator, his wife said.
Since retiring, Niebuhr dedicated his time to his wife and a vegetable and cactus garden at his home in Ojai, his wife said.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Claude C. Niebuhr of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Dean E. Niebuhr of Santa Paula; three daughters, Leah A. Maynor of Bakersfield, Gloria A. Wyatt of Westfall, Ore., and Donna R. Davis of Ventura; two brothers, Clarence Niebuhr of Reno and Glen Niebuhr of Sacramento, and six grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn., Ojai Division. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home.
