In reaching the current proportion of one-third the UC systemwide undergraduate student body, the number of Asian students has increased nearly 90% since 1985:

The Asian Picture
Asian students make up one-third of University of California undergraduates, with the largest group being Chinese. From 1984 to 1994, all Asian groups with the exception of Japanese increased their presence:
