Another Side to Domestic Violence

Re “A Dirty Secret” (Dec. 5): Domestic violence is an issue of paramount importance, and the various media are on a roll.

However, only one side of the issue is being presented. As a survivor of domestic violence, I do not believe there is any excuse for physically assaulting another human being except in self-defense. Period.

Women, however, are portrayed as totally innocent victims, and that is not true. Women use words to assault men. Verbal and emotional abuse leave no visible wounds but are just as insidious as physical abuse. While I believe there are men who assault women with no provocation, I do not believe they comprise the majority.
