THOUSAND OAKS : Scandinavian Folk Songs to Be Presented

Share

Anne Charlotte Harvey will present a show of Scandinavian pioneer folk songs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 12 in the Nelson Room of Cal Lutheran University.

Audience participation is invited at the event. The next day, Harvey will be giving lessons and making tapes for those who attend. The cost for lessons is $10, but they are free for members of the Scandinavian-American Cultural and Historical Foundation.

The songs Harvey will present were written by immigrants, said Aina Abrahamson, a board member of the foundation. “It’s music of the pioneers or immigrants that came long ago,” she said.

The performance is part of a folk art series at the university that was made possible by a $5,000 grant from the California Folk Arts Regranting Program in conjunction with the James Irvine Foundation.
