North Hills : 2 Arrested After Police Find Crude Drug Lab
A North Hollywood man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of manufacturing methamphetamines at a house in North Hills, Los Angeles police said Friday.
Jack Helms, 43, and Helen Scoles, 39, of Spokane, Wash., were arrested Thursday about 8:30 p.m. after police smelled a chemical odor coming from the house in the 8600 block of Valjean Avenue, Officer Cherie Clair said.
A crude lab with a small amount of narcotics was found in the garage in the back of the house, police said. Narcotics detectives took the lab apart and 25 nearby homes were evacuated for more than two hours.
The two suspects were held in lieu of $50,000 bail each, Clair said.
