Man Fatally Stabbed at Home by Intruder
A 22-year-old woman awoke early Thursday to discover an intruder fatally stabbing her boyfriend in their townhome, police said.
Jade Benning told police she awoke about 3 a.m. and saw her 22-year-old boyfriend, Christopher Hervey, struggling with someone in the dark, Santa Ana Police Lt. Bob Helton said. Benning said when she confronted the attacker, he slashed her right hand and fled through the back door of their home in the 2200 block of North Broadway, Helton said.
She then called police, who found Hervey with multiple wounds to his upper body. He died at the scene, Helton said.
Benning told detectives she and Hervey had been sleeping in their living room because they were repainting their bedroom.
Police believe the attacker was a burglar who was interrupted, Helton said. He apparently entered and left through the back door.
