* Paul W. Mikos has become the sole chief executive of Remedy Inc., a rapidly growing staffing services company in San Juan Capistrano, after sharing the position with R. Emmett McDonough. McDonough, son of company founder Robert E. McDonough, will become vice chairman of the board, overseeing the development of new products and technology and some financial activities.

As a co-chief executive, McDonough was in charge of company-owned locations and Mikos handled the franchise division. Mikos, who retains his title as president, has been with the company for 18 years.

Remedy Inc. has more than 150 franchise and company offices in 33 states. The company reported $247 million in sales in 1995, a 56% jump over 1994. A spokeswoman for the company attributed the increase in part to a new testing procedure that allows Remedy customers to evaluate potential employees for such qualities as work ethic, attitude and dependability.
