Television celebrity Sasha Mitchell, accused of violating probation on his wife-beating conviction, spent a little more than three hours in the Ventura County Jail on Thursday before posting $25,000 bail.

When Mitchell, 28, missed a scheduled court date Wednesday for the third time in two months, Municipal Judge Bruce A. Clark issued an arrest warrant. Mitchell appeared in court Thursday and Clark ordered him to jail.

Jail officials said Mitchell, of Westlake, was booked about 12:30 p.m. and released shortly after 4 p.m.

Mitchell pleaded no contest in September to beating his 25-year-old pregnant wife and was placed on three years probation.

But Probation Department officials allege that Mitchell has complied with none of the terms of his probation, which include contacting a probation officer, spending 10 days picking up trash along Ventura County freeways and signing up for counseling sessions.

The professional kick boxer was accused of hitting and kicking his pregnant wife on two occasions in April. He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of spousal abuse, battery and child endangerment in September.

Mitchell stars on the ABC show “Step by Step,” which airs Friday nights.
