VIRTUAL TRAFFIC: Now, through the miracle of the computer, you can witness traffic jams from the comfort of home. . . . The Caltrans Internet site (https://www.scubed.com/caltrans/) offers a constantly updated freeway traffic map, above. It’s color coded: green dots along a roadway mean traffic is flowing smoothly, red signals slowing to less than 20 mph and purple pinpoints an “incident.”

MORE TRAFFIC: The Internet site is a joint project between Caltrans and Maxwell Laboratories of San Diego. “It was the first of its kind in the nation,” said project manager Rachel Sandmann. . . . But if you can’t get to it, check out “Bumps and Bottlenecks,” our own weekly look at local road closures (B2).

PACKERS PUB: If the Green Bay Packers win the NFC title Sunday, a joyous noise will surely rise from the Pickwick Pub in Woodland Hills, where local Packers fans traditionally gather. “We sometimes get maybe 40 of them jammed in here,” said Pickwick regular Larry Stephens, who has been playing darts there for 22 years. . . . He says fans are loud but never rowdy. “The owner,” he said, “would not put up with that.”

THE RIGHT STUFF: Old aviation pins and patches will be among the paraphernalia offered at an aviation swap meet today on the Lockheed parking lot at Hollywood Way and San Fernando Road in Burbank. Part of the proceeds will go to the effort to establish a Burbank Aviation Museum. Unfortunately, the museum, if built, will also serve as a memorial--almost no aviation industry is left in Burbank. . . . “It is sad, but we want to keep the memory going,” said Walt Satalino, an event organizer.

MASTER’S TOUCH: Although small, the Master’s College in Newhall has racked up an impressive 59-10 basketball record over the last two years (C10). . . . Tonight Master’s faces a tough Cal State-Bakersfield team.
