County supervisorial candidate Roger Campbell picked up the endorsements Tuesday of Ventura County’s most influential political power brokers--Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury and Sheriff Larry Carpenter.

“I’m very pleased,” said the Fillmore mayor. “This says to me that they see me as someone who can lead the county into the 21st century.”

Bradbury and Carpenter were among 29 local elected officials who endorsed Campbell on Tuesday. They ranged from Ventura County Tax Collector Harold Pittman to Ojai City Councilman Bob McKinney.

Some of Campbell’s supporters, such as Simi Valley Mayor Greg Stratton and Ventura Mayor Jack Tingstrom, live outside the district he is competing in and cannot vote in the supervisorial election. The 3rd District includes the cities of Fillmore, Santa Paula, Ojai, Camarillo and portions of Thousand Oaks.

Of his endorsement, Bradbury said, “Ventura County voters have consistently demonstrated their unwavering support of public safety and Roger Campbell epitomizes that support.”

Campbell is one of four candidates competing in the March 26 primary election to replace retiring Supervisor Maggie Kildee.

The other candidates are Camarillo Councilman Mike Morgan and Kildee aides Kathy Long and Al Escoto.
