Nationwide Health Properties Inc.: The real estate investment trust, which bought 31 assisted-living facilities across the United States last year, posted record profit and revenue for the full year and fourth quarter.
Net income for 1995 increased 12.5% to $50.4 million, or $2.66 per share, from $44.8 million, or $2.47 per share, in 1994. Revenue jumped 17% to $82 million from $70 million.
For the fourth quarter, net income rose 13% to $12.8 million, or 66 cents per share, from $11.3 million, or 62 cents per share, during the same period the year before. Revenue rose 17% to $21.4 million from $18.2 million.
The company attributed its record performance to a strong investment portfolio and new investments in 1995. Vice President Mark L. Desmond said, however, that it may be unrealistic to think the company will keep up that investment pace in 1996. “We continue to see a lot of opportunity out there, but to expect to match 1995’s performance is probably a little aggressive,” he said.
