Schools : Education news : Scholarships Await 20 Future Leaders
Students from 10 local high schools may apply through Feb. 15 for scholarships in the 10th annual Spectrum Leadership Awards, sponsored by the Irvine Co.
A total of $48,000 will be awarded to 20 high school students who “best demonstrate the qualities necessary to become future community leaders,” according to scholarship guidelines.
To be eligible, students must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 and be college-bound seniors from one of the following high schools: Irvine, Woodbridge, University, Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, Estancia, Costa Mesa, Foothill, Tustin and Laguna Beach.
Scholarships, as much as $6,000 each, will be awarded on leadership criteria including community service, extracurricular activities and academic achievement.
Applications are available in counselors’ offices at eligible schools.
