Kudos to Letter Writer for Thoughtful Balance

One does not often find the truth concerning the hidden costs and stealth subsidies associated with the furtherance of the automobile over all other modes of transportation in the United States.

Although nothing will alter the wasteful dominance of the automobile in all phases of planning in California, Richard Risenberg should be complimented for his attempt in his letter (“The Most Subsidized Form of Transportation,” Jan. 7) to at least illuminate the argument with some thoughtful balance.
