L.A. Radio Revenue Sets Record: Ad revenues collected by Los Angeles radio stations in 1995 increased by 6.2% over the previous year to $534 million, according to a report by the Southern California Broadcasters Assn. The Los Angeles market is America’s top radio revenue producer, according to Gordon Mason, the association’s president. Los Angeles radio is ahead of second-place New York primarily because of commute patterns that have people listening to the radio in their cars for longer periods of time. The annual survey is based on revenue reports supplied by 22 of the area’s largest radio stations and estimates of revenues of 34 others.
