Delta Restores Pay Cut: The Atlanta-based carrier said that, effective immediately, it restored a 5% pay cut imposed on all nonunion employees in 1993. Delta Air Lines Inc. said it is able to make the move because it is profitable, can afford to do it and is confident that it will remain so. It also said that on Feb. 23, it will pay out a lump-sum advance profit sharing equal to 5% of base salary from July 1 through Jan. 31. Reserve personnel will also get 5% raises. The pay cuts were made when Delta, the nation’s third-biggest carrier, was in the middle of a string of losses that totaled nearly $2 billion. Delta has had three consecutive quarters of gains.
